PULLMAN, Wash. — “Studio 360,” a new program on WSU’s Northwest Public Radio, will explore the creative influence and power of art in modern life through stories and conversation 2 p.m. every Sunday beginning Nov. 4.
Hosted by novelist and journalist Kurt Andersen, “Studio 360” addresses subjects as varied as comic books: Wagner, Swiss Army Knives and the legacy of Woody Guthrie.
Program segments include “Portraits,” profiles on famous artists and behind the scenes people; “Design for the Real World,” a discussion with artists and designers about everyday items such as the Post-It Note; and “Cover Story,” a collection of features exploring a single idea, such as Shakespeare’s enduring influence on popular cultural.
Andersen is the co-founder of Inside.com and Inside magazine, publications covering the cultural industries in the digital age. He served as editor-in-chief of New York and Spy magazines and was a columnist for The New Yorker and Time magazine. The New York Times called his first novel, “Turn of the Century,” “wickedly satirical,” “outrageously funny” and “the most-un-clichéd novel imaginable.”
