PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s four-part program, “An American Tragedy — A Discussion Series,” will continue with Part II, “Public Security and the American Tradition of Personal Freedom,” from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in the Compton Union Building Auditorium.
John Kicza, associate dean of liberal arts, said the panel discussion addresses issues in the wake of the nation’s current events. “We are facing a new climate in which the country seems to be diminishing freedoms to maintain public security.”
The discussion will be open for audience questions and comments about national safety and individual rights. Panel members include LeRoy Ashby, WSU history faculty member; Robert Patrick, a local attorney; Mary Bloodsworth, WSU women’s studies faculty member; and Francesca Delgado, a WSU political science student. Deborah Love, director of the university’s Center for Human Rights, will moderate.
The third discussion panel in the series is being planned and will be announced soon.
