TRI-CITIES, Wash. — Washington State University Tri-Cities will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house in its newly remodeled classrooms and faculty and student offices on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Scheduled for 11 a.m. in the campus’ West Building atrium, the ribbon cutting will unveil the remodel of what had previously been primarily library space. A walking tour of the new facilities will follow the ceremony.
The new 12,000-square-foot space includes three classrooms, a student study center, student lounge, Associated Student’s offices, a conference room, reconfigured and expanded mail and reprographics center and 14 faculty and staff offices.
“When the new library opened in our Consolidated Information Center, we had this terrific opportunity for a cost-effective remodel that would add much-needed classrooms, student space and faculty offices to the campus,” said Larry James, campus executive officer and dean at WSU Tri-Cities.
“For this remodeling project, we dedicated about $850,000 in already existing funds. The way this work was done, we realized savings of perhaps several million dollars over new construction,” James said.
