Buxton Appointed Director of Cooperative Academic Library System in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. — David Buxton has been appointed director of the Cooperative Academic Library System, the shared library system for students of Washington State University Spokane and students in Eastern Washington University programs taught in Spokane.

Buxton most recently served as the director of Regional Information Services and librarian for Gonzaga University. He brings nearly 25 years of experience in higher education library services at institutions ranging from Harvard and Princeton to the University of Arizona. Buxton holds a master’s degree in library science from Simmons College, and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Harvard University.

Bill Gray, WSU Spokane campus executive officer and dean, says of Buxton, “David brings a tremendous breadth of experience in library science from his work in libraries at major institutions. He knows and is committed to Spokane, and his knowledge of technology is a major asset for meeting student needs as library services continue to evolve.”
