PULLMAN, Wash. — The Filipino American Student Association has planned various events to celebrate October as Filipino/American History Month.
The events include a free public film series that begins Wednesday, Oct. 11, with “The History of Filipino Americans” at 7 p.m. in the Talmadge Anderson Heritage House at Cleveland Hall. Epifanio San Juan, WSU comparative American cultures chair, will lead the discussion. On Oct. 18, the film “Filipina Women’s Movement,” with discussion led by Delia Aguilar, is set for 6 p.m., also at the Heritage House. The final film in the series, “Emerging Stereotypes of Filipinos in the U.S.,” is planned for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in the Heritage House. Alex Tan, chair of the WSU Murrow school of communications, will lead the discussion.
General FASA meetings are planned for 6 p.m. today (Oct. 10) on “Why is Filipino History Month Important?” and on Oct. 24, both in the Heritage House.
