PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s construction management program has
chartered a student chapter of Sigma Lambda Chi. The international honor society for
construction acknowledges student leaders in the top 20 percent of their classes.
Sigma Lambda Chi chapters may be established at schools with major construction
programs. It has a 50-year history with more than 45 chapters and over 10,000 current members in
the U.S. and Australia. WSU’s CM program also is more than 50 years old and provides learning
experiences both in Spokane and Pullman.
Assistant Professor Darlene Septelka, WSU Spokane, is the adviser who helped install the
nine first members of the Gamma IV Chapter on April 25.
Elected officers are David Hirsch, president (Tumwater); Richard Stevenson, vice president
(Walla Walla); Dan Barrett, secretary (Seattle); Andy Kromann, treasurer (Edmonds). Other new
members are Michael Benton (Sedro Woolley), Burke Bordner (Redmond), Graham Condit
(Bellevue), Chad Hamilton (Spokane) and Jason Harrison (Veradale).
