WSU Parents Program Awards $30,250 to Student Groups and Organizations

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University Parents Program awarded a total of $30,250 to 18 student organizations and programs during the annual Dad’s Weekend Breakfast, Oct. 31.
The awards included $4,300 each to the Dad’s Weekend Committee and the Mom’s Weekend Committee; $4,000 each to the Crimson Company show choir and Intramural Sports; $3,550 to Alive at WSU, the new student orientation program; $2,500 to the Women’s Transit Program; $1,500 to the Student Alumni Connection; $900 to YMCA Big Buddy Program; $750 to the Environmental Task Force; $700 to the WSU Sailing Club; and $600 to Camaradas, an organization of Chicano/Latino graduate and professional students.
Awards to other organizations are: $600 to the Black History Month Task Force; $600 to Semana de la Raza (Week of the People) Task Force, a Chicano/Latino student group program; $500 to the Compton Union Gallery; $500 to YWCA of WSU; $400 to the WSU Bowling Club; $300 to Mortar Board, the senior scholastic and service honorary at WSU; and $250 to the Korean Student Association.
Officers of the Parents Program for 1998-99 are President Jane Andrew, Kirkland coordinator of early childhood education for the Lake Washington School District; Vice President Greg Adams, Kennewick, business entrepreneur; Secretary/Treasurer Keith Lincoln, executive director of the WSU Alumni Association; and Associate Secretary/Treasurer Ginny Boyle, associate director of the WSU Alumni Association. Members include Brigid Graham, Bellevue community volunteer; Laurie Caraher, Pullman, Franklin Elementary School teacher; and Michael Elwin, Bellevue, a security specialist for Boeing. Deb Dzuck is WSU director of the Parents Program Fund.
