WSU’s Val Limburg Named State Broadcaster of the Year

PULLMAN, Wash. — Val E. Limburg, communications professor at Washington State University, has been named “State
Broadcaster of the Year” by the Washington State Association of Broadcasters.
The award was presented last week at the fall meeting of the association. Limburg was recognized for “his outstanding
contributions to Washington broadcasting and for service to broadcasters and his community.”
A member of the WSU communications faculty since 1967, Limburg has served as secretary-treasurer of the state
broadcasters association for 21 years. He has taught nearly every broadcast course offered in WSU’s Edward R. Murrow School
of Communication.
Presenting the award, WSAB chair Verl Wheeler said, “Val instills a strong work ethic, valuable skills and ethics into
each of his students. Val’s outstanding teaching, encouragement and attention to his students have made a real and lasting
difference in the broadcasting industry in Washington.”
Wheeler, president of KEYG radio in Grand Coulee, is a 1959 graduate of
WSU.
