WSU’s Camp Larson Responds to Playground Safety Concerns

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s Camp Larson is offering a Playground Safety Institute this weekend as part of its 1998 Institute Series.
The program, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, will address specific supervisory and risk management concerns related to public playground safety.
Each year, approximately 140,000 children in the country receive emergency room treatment for public playground equipment injuries, according to The National Program for Playground Safety.
The institute begins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and runs through 3 p.m. the following day. Anyone interested in more information about the institute can contact the Camp Larson office directly at 335-1875 or by e-mail at camplarson@wsu.edu.
Other institutes in the Camp Larson 1998 Institute Series will cover issues related to boating safety, communicating with children and waterfront property ownership.
Camp Roger C. Larson is located seven miles east of Worley, Idaho, on the shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene. As a WSU-owned facility, Camp Larson is dedicated to serving the needs of children, youth, families and communities of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.
