PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State Treasurer Michael J. Murphy travels to the east side of the state to visit with students in the Washington State University College of Business and Economics Wednesday and Thursday, March 25-26..
As the invited guest of the Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate Department, Murphy will address more than 100 students in a senior accounting class and an introductory course in finance, as well as meet with faculty and WSU President Sam Smith.
“Treasurer Murphy’s visit offers a unique opportunity for our students to meet such an integral figure in the government of our state,” says A. Gale Sullenberger, dean of the college. “They will hear firsthand about the operations of the state treasurer’s office and the many initiatives that are being pursued. We are honored to have Treasurer Murphy as our guest.”
The public is invited to attend the classes where Murphy will address students. Those are: 3:40-5 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, Todd Hall 307, “Accounting in Public Organizations,” taught by Tom Nunamaker; and 9:10-10:25 a.m., Thursday, March 26, Todd Hall 311, “Introduction to Finance,” taught by Harry Turtle.
Murphy, a Seattle native, became the state’s treasurer on January 15, 1997.
