WSU Names Director of Human Resource Services

PULLMAN, Wash.–David R. Moers, a veteran personnel executive with international experience, has been appointed director of Human Resource Services at Washington State University effective July 1.
Moers has been director of personnel at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Penn., since 1995. He also has been commissioner of personnel for the State of Vermont, a personnel policies specialist for the International Civil Services Commission serving the United Nations, administrative and personnel officer for the World Food Program in Rome, Italy, and was director of personnel services for the Cleveland Musical Arts Association from 1991-94.
A 1968 graduate of Arizona State University, Moers earned master’s and doctoral degrees in educational psychology from ASU. He also attended Harvard University’s Program for Senior Executives.
In announcing the appointment, Ernestine Madison, vice provost for Human Relations and Resources, said, “David has a very broad background in personnel. His experience in state government, higher education, and in the international arena gives him a unique perspective regarding the relationship between human resources work and diversity. He will work well with our whole team in moving WSU forward.”
Interim director of HRS is Nina Leisi, who has held the position since September when director Carleton B. “Barney” Waldrop retired.
