What does it take to transform an uprooted tree stump into a monumental bronze sculpture? Join Jonathan Follett, President of the Walla Walla Foundry, for a Community Perspectives Talk offering a behind-the-scenes look at the making of “Unearthed” (a work in progress) by artist Jim Hodges.

Cast at the Walla Walla Foundry in 2019, “Unearthed” represents a fascinating story of artistry, craftsmanship, and collaboration. Follett will share insights into the creation of the work and highlight other notable projects produced by the foundry over the past decade, offering a glimpse into the people, processes, and technology behind some of today’s ambitious contemporary artworks. The Walla Walla Foundry has grown from a regional bronze foundry into one of the world’s leading contemporary art fabricators. “Unearthed” is currently on view in the Pavilion Gallery through June 26, 2027.

Community Perspectives Talks & Tours invite members of the campus and wider community to share personal interpretations of works in the museum’s exhibitions. Free and open to the public.
