Professional Development Opportunity at WSU: Online Monitoring and Evaluation Leadership in Learning Course

The Office of International Programs Global Research and Engagement launched an online course designed for working professionals. The, ‘Monitoring and Evaluation Leadership in Learning’ has enrolled 32 professionals from Ghana, India, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Singapore, South Sudan, Thailand, Uganda, and the United States.

WSU faculty and students interested in learning about monitoring and evaluation for international projects are welcome to register for the next offerings starting June 4, 2018.

The course focuses on connecting M&E to adaptive program management, an approach now often mandated by donors and funding agencies. Participants from the first offering are already using the skills and tools they developed during the course.

For example, Dr. Karen Duca, who enrolled while volunteering with Bambi Land Montessori School in Ghana, used a survey she developed using a mobile data collection application introduced through the course to determine what students understood of other religions. Dr. Duca reflected on the assignment stating, “It really served my needs when I was doing educational outreach in southern Ghana. This was one of the most valuable aspects of the course for me.” She was not alone in finding value in the applied approach taken by the course. Rather than assigning restrictive exercises, every student is given space where they can complete tasks applicable to their own programs, research, and studies.

Each offering is limited to 25 individuals; reserve your spot early for the offering that works best for you.

The course registration fee is $625, including the option of earning 3.5 Continuing Education Unit credits. This is a non-credit course developed with WSU’s Professional Education team.
