“Immigrants Transforming American Identities” is the theme of afternoon presentations by author and poet Cecilia Rodríguez Milanés and documentary filmmaker Alexandra Hidalgo Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, hosted by The Writing Program.

Hidalgo’s film, “Vanishing Borders,” will be shown at a program beginning at 2:30 p.m. Wed., Sept. 30 in CUB L60, Butch’s Den, and is open to the public at no charge. The program includes discussions, refreshments, and the 90-minute documentary about four immigrant women living in New York City who transform their communities with their work. (more…)

The International Students’ Council (ISC) invites you to join its Party in the Park. The event will take place from noon – 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at Reaney Park. There will be 21 countries represented, performances, cultural booths, and international food for purchase (bring cash).

ISC is searching for volunteers to help set up before and clean up after Party in the Park. Breakfast will be provided for those that volunteer to set up. Volunteers must RSVP through Coug Sync to receive full service hours.

Carol Robinson is retiring from the WSU Libraries after 40 years of service.  We will be hosting a party for her on September 30 from 2-4 in the Terrell Library Atrium.  Please join us for cake and to wish Carol well!

WSU faculty and staff are invited to join us on Tuesday, September 29 as we celebrate our newly renovated space in the Washington building, now home to all campus health services! Come by any time between 8 and 10 am to chat with our staff and see our new space. The open house will be held in Washington 302, accessible through the north entrance of the building. Light refreshments will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there!

This installment in the Department Chairs and Directors Training Workshop Series will provide information and insight into successfully managing departmental and unit budgets. The discussion is led by Tom Martin, Director of the College of Arts and Sciences Administrative Services, and will include understanding budget statements, PBL, Accruals, F&A Accounts and Endowments. Also included is where to find meaningful data that measures department productivity.

The workshop occurs on Thursday, October 1, from 7:30-9 a.m. Originating in Lighty 405 on the Pullman campus, it will be available statewide via AMS Videoconferencing Services. It is important to register in advance. To do so, click here to enroll.
