New chemical waste labeling requirements

The Department of Ecology recently adopted amendments to the Dangerous Waste regulations. Most changes were minor and will only impact select areas. However, new labeling requirements will impact anyone collecting chemical waste in a container greater than one gallon.

Environmental Health and Safety will be providing new 8.5” x 11” labels to meet these requirements. Any container larger than one gallon will need to have a new waste label by April 28. Over the next few weeks we will be on campus changing labels.

If you are an area that collects waste and will need the new label, please contact either Dale Silbernagel, silbernagel@wsu.edu or Amy Speargas Whiteman, aspeargas@wsu.edu.
