Chris Jones named assistant vice president for budget and planning

Following a comprehensive search, Chris Jones has been named assistant vice president for budget and planning at Washington State University.

Jones began serving in his new role Dec. 1 and will oversee WSU’s budget operations, playing a pivotal leadership role in the ongoing efforts to streamline and enhance the university’s budgeting process.

Jones began his career at WSU in 2013 in the Budget Office as a budget/policy analyst. Over the past 10 years, Jones was promoted to budget officer and more recently held the position of assistant director. Working collaboratively, Jones has cultivated positive relationships with university staff, faculty, and leadership and continues to be a trusted colleague and resource.

“Chris’s unique blend of skills, expertise, and familiarity with WSU are exactly what we need for WSU’s continued success and advancing a strong financial foundation through an effective, accountable, and transparent budget leader,” said Leslie Brunelli, executive vice president for finance and administration/CFO.

Jones holds a bachelor of science in economics from Clemson University, and a master of public administration and graduate certificate in public policy from North Carolina State University.
