“Apple Health” for Families

Some state employees or their children may qualify for free healthcare coverage or assistance in paying their health insurance premiums, if their household income is under a certain income limit. In the state of Washington, two programs formerly known as Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Medicaid Premium Payment Program are now under one program called “Apple Health.” We encourage potentially eligible individuals to become familiar with Apple Health and refer anyone who may qualify to apply for free or low-cost coverage or health insurance premium assistance.

When employees or their child(ren) are enrolled in Washington Apple Health, they may also choose to keep their health insurance through their employer. If they do so, they may qualify for reimbursement of the cost of their health insurance premium.
