Writing Program Speakers Series – Dr. Rebecca Nowacek

Marquette University Associate Professor of English, Rebecca Nowacek will visit the WSU Pullman campus, April 10. Nowacek, author of Agents of Integration: Understanding Transfer as a Rhetorical Act (2011), Literacy, Economy, and Power (2013), and Citizenship Across the Curriculum (2010) will deliver a keynote address drawing from her original study presented in Agents of Integration. The Southern Illinois University Press describes this book by saying, “Nowacek presents a nuanced and engaging analysis that outlines how transfer is not simply a cognitive act but a rhetorical one that involves both seeing connections and presenting them to instructors who are institutionally positioned to recognize and value them.”

Hosted by the WSU Writing Program, the talk is free, open to the public, and will be delivered via AMS to Spokane – Room SAC 145A, Vancouver – Room VECS 125, Tri-Cities – Room CIC 125T, and Everett – Gray Wolf Hall Room 157.

Nowacek’s keynote, titled “Integrative Learning: Teaching for Transfer Across the Disciplines,” will be held Monday, April 10, 3:00-4:30pm in CUE 518. Light refreshments will be served.
