Saltiness perception study on 60+ population

Do you like white-sauce?

Participate in our study for the tasting of white sauce!

What is required to participate?

  • You must be at 60 years of age or older
  • Living independently or unassisted
  • Do not present food allergies or sensitivities to the ingredients* of the sample
  • You are required to attend multiple days

We are looking for volunteers to evaluate the sensory characteristics (aroma, taste, texture, saltiness, flavor) of multiple white sauce-based samples.

When: January 28-31. The test will take 45-60 minutes of your time each day.

Day 1-January 28: you will be asked to answer questions related to demographics, your oral health and medication intake. Saliva samples will be collected and your taste and smell sensitivity will be tested.

Day 2, 3 and 4-January 29-31: tasting of different white sauce-based samples.

If you participate for the whole study you will get a compensation= $50 Walmart gift card** or $5 Walmart gift card if you participate only for one day or not for the 4 complete days of the study.

Time: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Where: Sensory Evaluation Lab, School of Food Science (Room #150 and Room #148). Pullman campus.

*White-sauce based samples ingredients: UHT whipping cream, southwest chipotle seasoning blend, salt, dried basil, black pepper and garlic powder, unsalted butter and corn starch.
