The Play: That’s So Gay!

“That’s So Gay! is a performance about a first generation Croatian American navigating his queer identity. As the child of two Catholic Croatian immigrants, Kristo’s coming out required everyone in his family to get to work on redefining what it meant for him to be gay.  Examining his coming out story through humor he brings the audience into the complexity of navigating empathy, love, and ultimately what it means to be family.”

“As he begins to make headway with his family, Kristo travels back to Croatia to march in and participate in Zagreb Pride, as small but powerful movement that seeks to reconceptualize normativity to include LGBTQ people. As the movement expanded to Split, Croatia Kristo and 200 participants in Pride faced an incident of violence, which sparked a whole new story about agency, voice, and the need for community.  Kristo’s story moves from his family’s kitchen table in the United States, to his Motherland, and back again.”All are invited to attend.
