SEL Manufacturing Process Overview and Lead Time Reduction

ABSTRACT

This talk will begin with an overview of the electronics manufacturing processes at the Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) factory in Pullman, Washington. The purpose of the overview is to provide the students with a basic understanding of the manufacturing processes and general theory behind why these processes were chosen. Challenges that occur throughout the manufacturing process will be highlighted during the overview.

The format for the talk is to provide the overview, and, as processes are discussed, ask students how they would handle the challenges that the SEL manufacturing division has faced, or continues to face; focusing especially on lead time reduction.
