Maureen Stephens retiring June 30

Maureen Stephens, a die-hard Coug and long-time, dedicated, and greatly-appreciated WSU employee, will be retiring on June 30. A retirement celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 26, at the WSU Puyallup REC Allmendinger Center.

Notes of memories and well-wishes can be sent to Kelsey Leavitt (kelsey.leavitt@wsu.edu).

Maureen first began working for WSU as an accounting assistant in the academic program for athletes in September 1977. She transferred to CAHE (College of Agriculture and Home Economics, now CAHNRS) in the business and finance office in 1979. She worked there until May 1983, when she left Pullman and moved to Olympia with her family. Maureen spent over 25 years in the Instruction Office of South Puget Sound Community College, where she was responsible for the schedule, catalog, and class room scheduling. She was promoted to Budget/Database coordinator and added supervising the class schedule process and managing the budget and faculty contracts for Instruction.  In December 2007, Maureen returned to WSU in Puyallup as the Budget/Finance Manager. When she leaves us at the end of June she will be taking with her a 39.5 year career in higher education support.

Maureen will be greatly missed by the faculty, staff and students at WSU Puyallup REC – not only for her never-ending knowledge and willingness to help, but also for the turkeys that she prepared for Thanksgiving pot-luck luncheons and her delicious quiches and cookies which all became famous around here. Everything Maureen has done in her positions has made it possible for others to do their jobs better, and for that we are grateful. We are all wishing you a wonderful retirement!

Please join us in thanking Maureen for her 14.5 years of service to WSU!
