Lecture by Dr. Bruce Beutler, Nobel Laureate in Physiology and Medicine

The Immunology and Infectious Diseases Graduate Students Association (IIDGSA) takes great pleasure in inviting you to attend a lecture by Dr. Bruce Beutler, 2011 Nobel Laureate  in Physiology and Medicine. The Lecture will be held at the CUB M.G. Carey Senior Ballroom, on April 7, at 5:15 p.m. The lecture is open to all WSU students, faculty and staff.

Dr. Bruce Beutler, MD is an immunologist and geneticist, who first discovered the role of human Toll Like Receptors in the activation of the innate immune system. Toll Like receptors were shown to be instrumental in inflammation triggering as a response to pathogen recognition, as well as important mediators of inflammation in autoimmune diseases. For the significance of this and other discoveries in the activation of the innate immune system Dr. Bruce Beutler was awarded numerous prizes and awards along his career, most notably the 2011 Nobel Prize.
