Faculty and staff needed for First Gen Study Abroad working group

The First-Generation Abroad Program launched at WSU in 2015 and provides a unique global experience, carefully planned and relevant to first-generation students. This innovative program would not be possible without the knowledge and support of faculty and staff who serve on our working group.

Working group members meet twice a month to engage in outreach efforts, assist in pre- and post-departure activities, build networks of support for students and help identify resources to help first-generation students study abroad. Additional opportunities exist to serve abroad as a travelling advisor. Travel advisors will teach pre-departure course during the spring semesters prior to the summer program. Group members should be knowledgeable about first-generation students, although they do not need to be first-generation themselves.

The First Gen Abroad program is a partnership between Academic and Student Affairs. Faculty and staff from all WSU campuses are encouraged to apply.

Submit your application to be a working group member by November 25. Contact Lucila Loera for more information, lucila@wsu.edu.
