Coming soon – 2020 open enrollment

The open enrollment period for 2020 begins November 1 and will run through November 30. This is the one time each year when you can voluntarily elect to:

  • Change your medical and/or dental plans
  • Add eligible dependents to your coverage
  • Waive dependents from your coverage
  • Enroll/re-enroll in the Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and/or Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP)
  • Attest/re-attest to the spousal surcharge questions

Changes will become effective January 1, 2020. If you do not wish to make changes to your medical or dental coverage and are not required to review your spousal surcharge attestation, no action is needed on your part. However, if you are currently enrolled in FSA or DCAP and wish to have this benefit in 2020, you will need to re-enroll.

Where can I find more information?

There are three main avenues by which pertinent Open Enrollment information will be distributed:

  1. HCA For Your Benefit newsletter, set to arrive at your door or email inbox around mid-October, is the official announcement from the Public Employees Benefits Board (PEBB) for Open Enrollment 2020. This edition contains important information regarding medical premiums and plan changes, actions you can take during Open Enrollment, locations of Benefits Fairs throughout the state, SmartHealth Incentives, and required attestations. Even if you do not intend to make changes to your plan selections, it is highly recommended you read this newsletter. You can also view the October 2019 For Your Benefit Newsletter online when it becomes available.
  2. WSU HRS Open Enrollment website is a centralized hub providing Open Enrollment information and resources as they become available for faculty and staff. There you can find links to other relevant resources, as well as the forms needed to make changes during Open Enrollment (available November 1).
  3. HCA Benefits Fairs and presentations are happening across the state during the month of November. Fairs are being held near WSU campus locations during the first two weeks of November, and you are welcome to attend any of the Benefits Fairs happening across the state. Open Enrollment and Benefits Overview presentations will be held throughout late October and early November; the schedule for these presentations will be posted on the HRS Open Enrollment website once it is finalized.

Questions may be directed to HRS Benefit Services at (509) 335-4521 or hrs@wsu.edu.

The Notices and Announcements section is provided as a service to the WSU community for sharing events such as lectures, trainings, and other highly transactional types of information related to the university experience. Information provided and opinions expressed may not reflect the understanding or opinion of WSU. Accuracy of the information presented is the responsibility of those who submitted it. The self-uploaded posts are reviewed for compliance with state statutes and ethics guidelines but are not edited for spelling, grammar, or clarity.
