PULLMAN, Wash. — The eighth annual Cougar Pride Days has been set by Washington State University and the City of Pullman for April 6-12.
The spring cleaning and sprucing up event will include university and community volunteers working on the WSU campus and in around the City of Pullman.
Due to budget cuts, Cougar Pride Days 2009 will be streamlined compared to past years, said Pam Hilliard of WSU Facilities Operations.
She chairs the Cougar Pride Days planning committee which decided activities for the 2009 event will emphasize “spring cleaning indoor projects and litter pickup on campus grounds. Approved projects for Cougar Pride Days 2009 include:
Inside – office and shared space cleaning such as hallways, break rooms, and lounges
Inside – purging of old paper and electronic files no longer needed
Outside – Litter/trash pickup
Community service – canned food drive
Cougar spirit – plan a potluck with co-workers, make cookies/candy to share with co-workers
Budget cutting means there will not be opening and closing ceremonies for the event, said Hilliard. Also, there will be no t-shirts, awards and giveaways. There will not be a Cougar Pride Days button for 2009. However, a button design that will be posted at the Cougar Pride Days Web site www.wsu.edu/cougar-pride-days. The design may be downloaded for those who wish to create “do-it-yourself” buttons.
