Cougs get ready for Seattle; 45,000 tickets and counting

The Cougars football team, which has received unprecedented national attention and ranking, will open its season noon Saturday, Aug. 31, against the Nevada Wolf Pack in the newly constructed Seattle Seahawk Stadium.

In fact, it will be the first official contest to be played in the stadium.

The Cougs were recently ranked 11th by Associated Press in its preseason poll, and 14th by USA Today/ESPN in the coach’s preseason poll. General public ticket sales have already exceeded 45,000, not including 7,000 seats for students. The stadium will seat 67,000. To date, WSU#s largest home crowds were 40,306 for Stanford in Pullman in 1976 and 50,000 for Ohio State in Seattle in 1974.
