Showcase poster session draws large crowd

Showcase 2005 kicked off 10 a.m. Friday with a record 194 research posters being presented.

The variety was enormous with such research topics as: textile innovations; adolescents interaction with music media; ceramic bone implants; veterinary use of anti-inflammatory drugs; the benefits of rural airports; microengines; surveying techniques; and sustainable community development.

Immediately following the poster session was the 2005 Distinguished Faculty Address presented by professor Mark Kuzyk, and entitled “From Black Holes to the Internet: How we use the Scientific Method to Understand the Mysteries of Things Unseen.”

At 5:30 p.m. the Celebrating Excellence Recognition Banquet was slated to begin in Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum. This dinner and ceremony honors top faculty from throughout the university system. For more information go to the Showcase website at https://www.showcase.wsu.edu/schedule.html
