WSU Vancouver construction recognized for economic impact

VANCOUVER – The new Washington State University Vancouver Student Services Center and Firstenburg Student Commons were among the 25 area construction projects given the Top Projects awards by the Vancouver Business Journal.

The awards, announced at a July 20 Vancouver ceremony, recognize the largest area construction projects of the past year, as well as others which help contribute to the local economy.

Estimated cost for the Student Services Center (SSC) and Firstenburg Student Commons (FSC) is $14.6 million. The ground level of the building will house the new Student Resource Center and the relocated Bookstore. The site for the new facility is adjacent to the new Firstenburg Student Commons, overlooking an existing water feature.  Construction on the SSC will be completed in the winter of 2007.
