PULLMAN, Wash. — About 560 graduates are expected to take part in Washington State University’s fall commencement ceremony to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 in the Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum.
WSU President V. Lane Rawlins will confer degrees. William D. Marler, president of the WSU Board of Regents, will deliver the commencement address. Jesse Aspuria, president of the Associated Students of WSU, also will speak. Tickets are not required for the event.
Marler was appointed to the Board of Regents in 1998 and is now serving his second term. He is a partner in the law firm of Marler Clark in Seattle.
While a student at WSU, Marler served as a member of the Pullman City Council and was the youngest person and the first student ever elected to the office. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science, economics and English from WSU in 1982, and a juris doctor degree from Seattle University in 1987.
This will be the third year that WSU has held a fall commencement. The number of students expected to participate this year is the largest in the short history of the event.
