Courses From Public Speaking To Nuclear Engineering Available During WSU Tri-Cities Summer Sessions

TRI-CITIES, Wash. — A wide range of classes will be available during the coming Washington State University Tri-Cities summer term. The first classes start May 13.

Among dozens of classes offered in the 2002 summer catalog are “Advanced Public Speaking” and “Technical and Professional Writing.” The three-credit public speaking course meets Monday through Thursday from 9 to 10:30 a.m., and begins May 13. The technical writing class begins June 24 and runs through Aug. 2. It meets Monday through Thursday from 5:45 to 7 p.m. for three credits.

The three-credit introductory course in Nuclear Engineering begins May 13 and runs through June 12. It will meet Monday through Thursday from 4 to 5:40 p.m.

“Those are just three of dozens of interesting classes we’re offering in two summer sessions,” says Gene Schreckhise, WSU Tri-Cities associate dean. “People might also be interested in ‘Crime and Justice in the Movies,’ which is a criminology course or a special topics class we’ve titled ‘Ecology, the Environment and Religion.’

In addition to the special offerings, Schreckhise says the Richland campus will present dozens of other classes — for both graduate students and undergraduates — in disciplines ranging from business to science.

“We find summer is a good time for students who return to the Tri–Cities from their studies at other campuses to pick up a few credits, particularly credits that count toward their General Undergraduate Requirements,” Schreckhise says.

Information on WSU Tri-Cities summer courses is available by contacting the campus at (509) 372-7000 or the complete schedule of classes is on the Web at Tri-Cities Summer Courses.
