“Contingency Management (CM) Impact: Lived experience and rural practice”
CM is an evidence-based behavioral intervention using positive reinforcement to support people in achieving their goals. This webinar will discuss how it has been applied across Washington state to address stimulant use and implementation considerations unique to rural areas. The session will feature a person with lived experience participating in CM, highlighting the impact CM has had on his recovery journey.
James Olsen is a person in recovery. He currently works at Spokane Addiction Recovery Centers as a residential treatment assistant. He understands pain. He knows what struggle is like, and he knows recovery is possible.
K. Michelle Peavy is a scholarly associate professor in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University, co-director of the NW Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Collaborative, licensed clinical psychologist, and substance use disorder professional. One focus of her work is leading training and technical assistance efforts to support the implementation of contingency management.
