Washington State University has been named a “Voter Friendly Campus” for 2025–26 by the Fair Elections Center’s Campus Vote Project (CVP) and NASPA, Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.
It is a system-wide honor that WSU earned every year since the program began in 2017–18. This year, WSU is one of 272 campuses in 39 states and the District of Columbia to be included in the new listing and is one of only two higher education institutions in Washington, sharing the honor with Whatcom County Community College. The entire list can be viewed online.
According to the Voter Friendly Campus website, the goal of the Voter Friendly Campus program is to help institutions develop democratic engagement action plans that coordinate administrators, faculty, and student organizations in civic and electoral engagement.
In a congratulatory message to WSU’s Center for Civic Engagement (CCE), CVP and NASPA wrote, “Your institution’s efforts, during the unprecedented times for higher education and democracy broadly, to break down barriers and empower students with the information and tools they need to participate in the political process led to tremendous youth voter turnout and opened the door to lifelong civic engagement for your students.”
According to CCE, the number of WSU students that vote in national elections far exceeds national averages for college students.
