Bio:
Alan Rice is a professor in English and American Studies at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, and co-director of the Institute for Black Atlantic Research (IBAR). He was a consultant to Studio Canal for their 2022 release, The Railway Children Return, which uses his research on Black American GI s and Jim Crow segregation as a key plotline. This work also fed into his co-leadership with Preston Black History Group of the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Bamber Bridge in 2023, supported by the Embassy of the United States. In 2025, he is a Fulbright Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan.
