LGBTQIA2S+ Faculty/Staff Distinguished Achievement Award nominations open until Feb. 28

The President’s Commission for Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation (GIESO) would like to celebrate and honor excellence within the LGBTQIA2S+ community at WSU.

Beginning Feb. 1, GIESO will be soliciting nominations for exceptional faculty, staff, or administrators who have provided exemplary contributions to the LGBTQIA2S+ community through the advancement of the work of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

This award demonstrates the institution’s commitment to fostering a welcoming campus culture and climate and shows LGBTQIA2S+ employees that they are a seen, valued, and vibrant part of the WSU community. We invite you to submit a nomination by Feb. 28. Nominations will be reviewed in March, and the recipients will be announced in early April. We will be selecting one nominee for the staff award and one nominee for the faculty award. We will recognize the recipients of these awards during the GIESO Spring Celebration in April 2025.

About GIESO: The WSU President’s Commission on Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation (GIESO) and informs campus interactions pertaining to all LGBTQIA2S+ faculty and staff employed by WSU by gathering data, creating awareness, and working with our campuses to create a safe and welcoming environment for all people regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, ability, or nationality.
