Celebration of life for Marianna Merritt Matteson

Family and friends will join together at the Lewis Alumni Center on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 4–6 p.m. to celebrate her life and accomplishments. All are welcome!

Marianna Merritt Matteson peacefully passed away in Pullman, Washington, on July 20, 2022. She graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish degree, followed by a Master of Arts degree awarded in 1956 from the State College of Washington, (now Washington State University or WSU) in Pullman. In 1965, she joined the faculty at WSU where she achieved the rank of full professor and served as chair of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures for 10 years.
