All WSU faculty and staff are encouraged to learn how to identify and support Cougs in crisis through mental health training provided by WSU Health Promotion.
Campus Connect is a free 2‑hour suicide prevention training program. In this session, participants learn statistics about college student suicide, how to ask if someone is feeling suicidal, appropriate referrals, and relationship building skills. There are virtual and in‑person training sessions to choose from. Register online for Campus Connect.
Mental Health First Aid is a 7‑hour online workshop that teaches crisis response, active listening skills, and how to support someone experiencing a mental health disorder such as depression, trauma, psychosis, or substance abuse. There is a $50 fee for faculty and staff to participate. Register online for Mental Health First Aid.
