Gary Ferguson will present a Common Reading talk, “WSU IREACH: Bright Spots in Addressing Indigenous Health Equity,” at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, via Zoom. Ferguson, the director of outreach and engagement at WSU’s Institute for Research and Education to Advance Community Health (IREACH), will highlight some of the promising initiatives and research being done within the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine to improve health equity and access for Indigenous communities in our region. Attendees may join the talk via Zoom.
This talk one in a year-long series focused on topics inspired by this year’s WSU Common Reading book, Robin Wall Kimmerer’s “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants.” An unlimited, downloadable e‑copy of book is available to all WSU students, staff, and faculty through the WSU libraries, and a teaching guide for the book is also available. Links to the book and to the guide, as well as information about future events, can be found at CommonReading.wsu.edu.
