Christopher Jones, PhD — Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine — will be visiting WSU Spokane for the SPRC Seminar Series. His seminar entitled “From the Laboratory to the International Space Station: The Persistent Effects of Sleep Loss on Human Neurobehavioral Functions” will be in person in the Spokane Academic Center RM 347 and on Zoom on Wednesday, May 4, 12:10-1 p.m.
Dr. Jones received his PhD in Neuroscience from the Tulane Brain Institute at Tulane University in 2019 and then began his postdoctoral work at UPenn. His doctoral research examined alterations in telomere biology, both in the placenta and the infant, and how maternal life-course adversity influences infant stress physiology and psychopathology.
Dr. Jones’s current research interests focus on understanding the nature of interindividual differences in neurobehavioral responses to sleep loss by examining neurobiological and peripheral pathways that contribute to an individual’s response. Dr. Jones has contributed to both laboratory and field studies of sleep, including studies of astronauts aboard the International Space Station and most recently, a laboratory study to examine the feasibility of auditory brain stimulation during sleep as one strategy to promote sleep in astronauts during spaceflight.
We look forward to you joining us in person, SAC 347 or on Zoom!
