Registration opens for WSU Vancouver’s new professional education programs

Registration is now open for the first three noncredit certificate courses for Washington State University Vancouver’s new Professional and Corporate Education (PACE) program. The courses will be offered online in the evenings via Zoom videoconference beginning in March.

The goal of PACE is “to serve the lifelong learning and career development needs of individuals, organizations and the community,” said Hakan Gurocak, director of the PACE program and a professor of mechanical engineering. The format and schedule are designed to accommodate working professionals.

The first courses are:

  • Leadership Development Series
    For new and emerging leaders, with an emphasis on key principles and interaction essentials required to lead diverse and dynamic work teams. Classes meet alternate Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m., March 17–June 23. The fee is $1,195.
  • Lean Product and Process Development
    For those wishing to increase development productivity while delivering increased customer value, higher profits and lower costs. Classes meet Mondays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m., March 15–April 8. The fee is $995.
  • SQL for Beginners
    An introduction to relational database systems using MySQL, with an emphasis on application of relational database methods and theories to practical real-world problems. Classes meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, March 16–May 4. The fee is $995.
