WSU Visiting Writers Series hosts poet via Youtube Live

The WSU Visiting Writers Series will host acclaimed poet Ross Gay for a reading from his collected works on Oct. 15.

The Indiana University professor will read as well as take questions on YouTube beginning at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Among his numerous accolades are the 2015 National Book Critics Circle Award and the 2016 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award for his poetry collection “Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude.” In addition to his books of poetry, Gay is a founding board member of the Bloomington Community Orchard, a non-profit free-fruit-for-all food justice and joy project.

The WSU Visiting Writers Series hosts poets and writers of fiction and nonfiction to campus for creative readings, class visits, workshops and collaborative exchanges across intellectual and artistic disciplines. Gay’s reading is co-sponsored by the WSU Vancouver Office of Equity and Diversity, the WSU Vancouver Office of Student Equity and Outreach, the WSU Vancouver Office of Academic Affairs, the WSU Vancouver College of Arts and Sciences, the WSU Tri-Cities Writing Center, the WSU Common Reading Program, ASWSU, “LandEscapes, the Student Literary Journal” and the WSU Department of English.
