Password Policy Changes

On March 16, Information Technology Services (ITS) will be updating existing password policy in order to limit the number of password resets that a user can cycle through in a 24-hour time period. Under this policy, there will be a minimum one day waiting period between password changes.

The default password policy is also being adjusted to allow five bad attempts before lockout. Once locked out, users will need to contact the Crimson Service Desk for assistance.

There is no expected impact, unless a user attempts to change their password multiple times in one day, as doing so will no longer be possible.

Users should not experience any issues when changing their NID password as requested every six months.
