Dr. Carol Salusso began her career here at WSU in 1994 when the Apparel program was only the Merchandising option with 40 undergraduate students and three faculty.
Dr. Salusso reinvented the Apparel Design option and by 1996 launched the first all-designer version of the department’s Mom’s Weekend Fashion Show. Dr. Salusso has served as Apparel Program Coordinator, Chair of Apparel, Merchandising, and Interior Design, Graduate Program Coordinator and Assessment Officer. She has advised 34 master’s students, published over 50 designs and articles, participated in five USDA Grants and in the WSU Smith Teaching Grant. Her faculty journey has spanned 37 years and three universities.
Dr. Salusso’s contributions to the Department of Apparel, Merchandising, Design and Textiles will be greatly missed by our faculty, staff, and students. Come and wish Dr. Salusso the best in her retirement journey.
