For those who were unable to attend, the Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) hosted Lisa Wolf-Wendel, PhD, Professor, Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, School of Education, University of Kansas, on Friday, October 12, for her presentation on Managing the Demands of Work and Life for those in Academic Medicine and Science.

Wolf-Wendel is a professor of higher education in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and the associate dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the School of Education at the University of Kansas. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology and communications from Stanford University in 1987 and her doctorate in higher education from The Claremont Graduate University in 1995. Wolf-Wendel is the author of numerous books and refereed journal articles on topics related to equity issues in higher education. Her most recent research focuses on the policy response of academic institutions in the wake of demands for dual career couple accommodations and work/family balance. Wolf-Wendel’s GWIMS presentation draws upon her highly recognized 2012 book, Academic Motherhood: Managing Work and Family, which she co-authored with former WSU Vice Provost Kelly Ward.
