Patriotism and mediated sport studied at WSU

A group of researchers led by Simon Licen at Washington State University seeks participants for a focus group (small discussion group) about patriotism, national identity, media, and sport. The discussion will take place 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Monday, September 24, on the Pullman campus at Washington State University.

Participants will be asked to discuss their understanding of patriotism, national identity and nationalism, especially in relation to sport and mass media. Their views be compared to those of participants in other counties.

Findings will be presented at conferences and in publications aimed at academic and professional audiences.

Interested individuals should complete a short questionnaire located at https://www.1ka.si/a/183485. Confirmed participants will receive a confirmation email over the weekend.

Participation in the study is voluntary. Participants may withdraw at any time without consequences. They will not receive any compensation. All information gathered in this study will be kept confidential and participants’ identity will be protected: any comments made will not be attributed to participants directly.

Questions about the study can be directed to principal investigator Dr. Simon Ličen at simon.licen@wsu.edu.
