Meet the makers of Cougar V, taste the wine

Be one of the first people to experience the new Cougar V wine from Mercer Wine Estates during a Meet the Makers of Cougar V tasting 12-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Brelsford WSU Visitor Center.

The visitor center, located at 150 E. Spring St., will be hosting Washington State University alumni Rob and Brenda Mercer, who are responsible for the latest edition in the WSU Alumni Association’s Cougar Collector Wine Series. This is the Alumni Association’s fifth installment of the series, which highlights a different Wine-by-Cougs winery each year to create a unique wine for all Cougs to enjoy.

The tasting will also feature two other wines from Mercer Wine Estates: Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, both from the winery’s estate vineyards. The Mercers will give brief remarks at 1 p.m. and will be available for meet and greet throughout the tasting. They will be joined by winemaker and alumnus Jeremy Santo.

Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at the door beginning at 12 p.m. The tasting includes a 2-ounce pour of each featured wine.

Tickets also include a commemorative Brelsford WSU Visitor Center wine glass while supplies last. Each ticket will also act as a 20 percent off coupon on a single bottle of wine and participants will be entered into a raffle for a gift basket featuring a bottle of Cougar V and other WSU products.

The event is open to all ages. A limited supply of light refreshments will be provided by WSU Dining Services and the visitor center.
