Department of Anthropology Colloquium
4:10 Thursday, November 16 / College Hall 220
Dr. Loren Davis
Department of Anthropology, Oregon State University
Archaeologists are becoming more familiar with the concept of capturing 3D digital scans of artifacts, particularly as methods of digitization become easier to learn and scanning equipment becomes cheaper to obtain. Despite the popularity of 3D scanning, this digital method has not been widely applied to address archaeological research questions. Here, we will talk about common approaches to capturing 3D digital scans of artifacts and will explore different ways in which 3D artifact models can be used in outreach and research.
Dr. Loren Davis is a Professor of Anthropology at Oregon State University, where he serves as the Executive Director of the Keystone Archaeological Research Fund. Dr. Davis conducts archaeological and geoarchaeological research on questions about the First Americans of western North America in field areas both above and below sea level.
All are welcome to attend!
