Healthy dogs wanted!

We are seeking 60 healthy dog volunteers to help us study the effects of antibiotics on the bacteria found in poop. Dogs will be enrolled in the study for a period of one week and a stool sample will need to be collected at the beginning and end of the study period.

Dog owners need to be able to:

  • Bring their dog to the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital for a physical exam
  • Give their dog an oral medication (Clavamox, Baytril or a placebo) on a prescribed 3 to 7-day schedule
  • Record their observations on a treatment log
  • Transport the stool samples to the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital

The study will provide a complete physical examination and study medication at no charge to the owners. Upon completion of the study, owners will receive a $5 Ferdinand’s gift certificate.
