The safety and well being of all of the students volunteering with or utilizing the services of the Transit program are my number one priority. We are working very closely with our campus Environmental Health and Safety department and WSU Police Department to conduct a routine but thorough review of the program so that we can make any and all necessary updates to training and protocol to ensure that we provide the safest service possible for everyone involved. We feel it is prudent to not re-open the program until these reviews and necessary changes can be made. Therefore Transit will not be in operation for the remainder of the Fall semester. We will give a progress report on this program before the Spring semester.
In the meantime, these alternative resources are available for free or low cost:
Our WSU Police Department offers Cougar Security Escorts to walk between campus buildings, local living areas, or any of the Washington State University grounds. This service is provided free of charge. To obtain a Security Escort please call (509) 432-3818 and allow 15-20 minutes for her escort to arrive. Escorts are available Wednesday – Saturday, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
