Coffee & Politics: water, energy, and climate change

The Foley Institute’s Coffee & Politics Series continues with former Foley Institute Director Ed Weber, who will discuss:

“The wicked problem of water, energy, and climate change”

Population growth, increasing demand for energy and climate change are creating an unstable trajectory for water consumption. New dams and traditional hydropower tend to exacerbate many ecological problems and reduce energy demand from far away, grid based sources—doing nothing for local water and ecological conditions. How might this wicked problem be solved while preserving the integrity of existing water rights?

Edward P. Weber is the Ulysses Dubach Professor of Political Science at Oregon State University. Pizza and soda will be provided.
